Does Your Realtor Shun Hi Tech?

This got a lot of interest when I posted it on Active Rain!

Does Your Realtor  Shun High Tech?

Don’t be surprised if your next encounter with a Realtor is one who’s got more gray hair than tech gizmos.  In reality, most Realtors today are long lived in the field due to experience, not technology.  But they still know their local markets better, even if the latest podcast isn’t on their tape deck.

This being the case, you may want to enquire if your Realtor uses YouTube videos to promote their listings.  This is a great topic to discuss with a Realtor who should be able and willing to give you details on their marketing plan, especially on digital media.  As nearly 80% of home research is now done online, Realtors needs to make sure they are bringing the sizzle to their online marketing plan. Most Realtors take plenty of professional photos, but the ones who can combine photos and video are stepping up to the next decade of user technology for helping buyers find a home.  Everyone who doesn’t live under a rock knows homes can be searched and seen on the internet.  Video marketing is a perfect tool to show a home’s features quickly and easily, 24/7.  I’ve had homes “sell themselves” with a virtual tour and this  appeals to a broad selection of buyers, both near and far.

Today’s market is not for the faint of heart.  Many of my sellers have sat for a long time on the sidelines, debating on whether or not to sell or stay.  It’s not an easy choice.  Today’s market of sinking prices, shrinking margins, long hang times plus the news media’s added doom and gloom indicates while we’re no longer in free fall, we’re still not seeing huge gains.  And we may never see the double digit gains from a short while back.  Realtors in Keller Williams are up to speed on the latest and greatest in tech, marketing and sales.  If you want to get your facts straight, find a Keller Williams agent in Fox Valley or in Elgin, IL, like me, to find out what to do next.  In the meantime, homeowners can rest assured that Realtors who are in it for the long haul will be around to make sure the process goes smoothly.
