Elgin’s 2013 budget lowers property tax levy again!

Elgin has released its 2013 budget and once again, the city of Elgin property tax levy will be reduced.  http://il-elginbudget.civicplus.com/index.aspx?NID=410

If your property tax bill goes up, it won’t be because the city of Elgin is raising rates.  Check out the other taxing bodies in your levy area such as Kane County, School District U-46, Community College 509, Elgin Township in addition to how your property is valuated.  Of course, Cook County property owners still have to deal with the “homeowner exemption” reduction that has increased their taxes. Check the FAQ in the Elgin Newsletter here: http://www.cityofelgin.org/DocumentCenter/View/41201

Considering the length of the recession and long term effects, I think the city of Elgin has done a remarkable job of cutting costs, saving on services and streamlining its workforce.
